Overview The ZIP 2 is an IP phone that supports two call appearances. The phone is available in white and black. The phone is powered by an ac adapter. The ZIP 2 is 100% based on open standards. It uses SIP for call control, making it compatible with Windows Messenger and any IP phone system that uses SIP standards. The phone has a web interface that permits rapid configuration. The phone can be used for any business application. It offers great value when used in conjunction with a PC based software program that can interact with the phone. Ergonomics The phone has the appearance of a traditional business telephone set. There are 16 buttons and keys. Every standard feature is readily accessible using a button or key. For example, to place a call on hold, the user simply presses the Hold key. Two LEDs indicate useful information such as an incoming call or voice mail messages waiting (MWI). Voice Features The phone fully supports all commonly used PBX features. These are easily accessed and simple to use. One or two key presses access redial, transfer, hold, and conference functions. The ZIP 2 supports conferencing with three people. The conference is easily set up with any combination of inbound and outbound calls. Data Features By default, the Ethernet port is an untagged member of a single VLAN, so the ZIP 2 can interoperate with any network. Full support for IEEE 802.1q VLAN tagging and IEEE 802.1p QoS settings allows the ZIP 2 to provide enhanced quality of service functions at the Ethernet layer. This ensures it is compatible with any network, new or old.
